Emergency Assistance

Emergency Assistance is a needs based program for Township residents.

The   Sterling   Township   provides   Emergency   Assistance   (EA),   however,   such assistance may only be provided for two purposes: 1. To alleviate life threatening circumstances; and 2. To assist a person in attaining self-sufficiency To be eligible for Emergency Assistance a person: 1. Must submit a written application to the Sterling Township 2. Must be a resident of Sterling Township and 3. Cannot   be   receiving   General   Assistance   or   financial   assistance   from   the Illinois   Department   of   Human   Services:   however,   Emergency   Assistance may   be   provided   to   applicants   for   categorical   assistance   who   have   not yet received their initial check. 4. Must be 18 years of age or older. An   applicant   that   has   been   approved   WILL   NOT   RECEIVE   CASH .      If approved   for   Emergency   Assistance,   the   GENERAL   ASSISTANCE   office   will issue   “disbursing   orders”   totaling   the   approved   grant   amount   to   vendors to   supply   goods   and   services.      Those   who   received   Emergency   Assistance are able to qualify one time during any consecutive twelve month period. The   Sterling   Township   may   refer   you   to   other   agencies,   programs   or   other services   to   assist   you   in   alleviating   a   life-threatening   circumstance   or   aid you in attaining self-sufficiency.
