Youth Leading the Way

Giving   Power   to   Adolescents   (GPA)   is a    youth-led    initiative    to    develop    a center   for   youth   for   the   surrounding communities.        GPA    members    are Freshman      through      Senior      High School    students.        This    organization was      established      to      help      bring together             the             surrounding communities     through     the     youth.       The   youth   involved   in   GPA   are   from the    schools    of    Sterling,    Rock    Falls, Dixon,   and   Newman.      GPA   intends   to help   develop   the   40   Developmental Assets    not    only    in    the    youth    that would    go    to    the    Center    For    Youth (CFY),   but   also   develop   Assets   for   the youth    involved    in    the    organization.      GPA   also   offers   the   use   of   the   CFY for         BLIND,         a         school-based organization    for    building    Assets,    to conduct    leadership    training.        The youth       involved       with       GPA       are obligated        to        give        and        take responsibility       through       decision- making,            assignments,            and leadership.

Provide   a   safe   and   positive   environment   for   young   adults   to improve   and   unite   the   community   as   one   while   building   new friendships, developing assets, and creating social acceptance.
