Riverside Cemetery was established in the early 1800’s as a burial ground for the earliest settlers of Sterling. Founding Father Hezekiah Brink is buried here as well as many people important to the growth and future of Sterling. Riverside Cemetery consists of 90+ acres and in addition, the staff maintains the grounds of Reformed Mennonite Cemetery and Sacred Heart Cemetery. Riverside Cemetery was taken over by Sterling Township in 1955 by a vote of the electorate. Many people have passed through these doors as managers, grounds keepers and laborers.
